ExpiredBeginner Uke Part 1 – EXPIRED

Beginning Ukulele Part 1. Get the essentials.

Learn to play the ukulele in just 4 lessons. This introductory class starts right at the beginning and builds skill by skill. No previous musical experience is expected or necessary. In Part 1, we focus on the accompaniment side of playing the ukulele, i.e. strumming chords and singing the melody. This is the foundation for understanding how to play and will be the basic skills you will want in order to enjoy playing on your own or with others at jams. The small group setting offers a fun and dynamic way of getting these skills into your hands.

Objectives for Beginner Part 1:
  • Good techniques for holding the instrument and strumming
  • Learn essential chords and how to move between them
  • Strumming patterns, and how to ‘own’ the rhythm and sing at the same time
  • Learn many popular songs such as Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Folsom Prison Blues, These Boots Are Made For Walkin’, Somewhere Over the Rainbow and more
  • Leave with a booklet of songs you can play on your own

You will need to bring your own ukulele to the class. Course materials will be supplied.
